Really don't know.
However i would like to see the Windows updates log.

Run PowerShell as Administrator, and use this command:
Powershell:
Get-WindowsUpdateLog
This will generate a WindowsUpdate.log file on your desktop. Please upload, if to big for this site, use MediaFire

I'm running the script but nothing is being written. I went to Windows\Logs\WindowsUpdate and there are plenty of files but the script produces nothing.script.webp

Something must still be wrong. Tried it on diffrent machines with diffrent win11 versions and builds, and all returning the Update Info. if you go to Settings-System->all the way down, option About, what build version are you on? Can you make a printscreen? And is windows activated?

Normally not, but if explorer.exe is locking files, and if dism needs to remove an items, i could kill and start the locking process. I have not encounterd that.

Show dism.log for the error 87

Unfortunately, I continued on with the recovery and did a repair install, which completed successfully, and which also ran a DISM after install. The only log left in the folder was the one after install. I did run another but that completed successfully also. The KB is in the registry again. I guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow to see if it runs again.

After all this, the blasted thing ran again this morning. This is really getting stupid. There's got to be a trigger somewhere but I can't find it. Ran the DISM analyze and it showed 2 items for clean up. Ran the DISM clean up, completed successfully. Ran the analyze again and 2 components showed for clean up again. Currently running clean up from task scheduler per the tutorial. Will get back once that's completed.

Thats a know bug for the latest version Analyze Component Store - 2 reclaimable packages?

Have btw tested, that when you pause windows update, windows defender updates/definitions still are able to install.
So i guess config change update that does not install anything might also still run.

Have tested a system, to configure only to download windows updates, and not install them. Then Defender definitions also does not install automaticly.
So you might try out temporally to set this up.

How to do that read here: Updating Win 11 individual updates at a time
