Insider KB5043178 Windows 11 Insider Release Preview build 26100.1876 (24H2) - Sept. 23

UPDATE 10/10:

 Windows Blogs:

Hello Windows Insiders, today we’re releasing Windows 11 Build 26100.1876 (KB5043178) to Insiders in the Release Preview Channel on Windows 11, version 24H2 (Build 16100).

Below is a summary of the new features and improvements included as part of this update separated into two sections: gradual rollout and normal rollout. The bold text within the brackets indicates the item or area of the change we are documenting.

Gradual rollout

These might not be available to all users because they will roll out gradually. Text bolded in brackets indicate the area of the change being documented.
  • [Start menu] New! The “Sign out” option is now on the account manager when you open the Start menu. To change to a different user, select the ellipses (…). A list of other users appears to make it easier to switch.

  • Taskbar] New! You can now share local files directly from the search results that appear in the Search box on the taskbar.

  • [Settings]
    • New! The Delivery Optimization Settings page now matches the Windows 11 design. See Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Delivery Optimization.

    • New! There is a new energy recommendation to turn off high dynamic range (HDR). This helps to conserve energy on devices that have HDR displays. Go to Settings > Power & battery > Energy recommendations.

    • [ADDED 9/24] New! This update adds the option to turn off enhanced mouse pointer precision to Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Mouse. There is also a new option to change the direction in which the mouse scrolls.

    • [ADDED 9/24] New! You can now set Power Mode for when your PC is plugged in and on battery. Go to Settings > System > Power & battery.

  • [Lock screen] New! Media controls now show in the lower part of the lock screen at its center when media is playing.

  • [Battery life] New! When your device’s battery power is running low, a pop-up window will appear that asks you to plug in your device. This occurs when the battery level reaches 20% and while Energy Saver is set to “Always On”.

Normal rollout

This update includes the following features and improvements that are rolling out as part of this update. Text bolded in brackets indicates the area of the change being documented.
  • [Open Source Software] This update adds attributions to credits.txt files for Rust OSS components.
  • [Input Method Editor (IME)] When a combo box has input focus, a memory leak might occur when you close that window.
  • [WebView2 apps] They do not detect input from Xbox 360 and Bluetooth controllers.
  • [ADDED 9/24] [Screen readers] The NonVisual Desktop Access (NVDA) app and other screen readers fail to narrate all the screen content from some apps. This occurs when those apps run with administrator privileges.
Thanks,
Windows Insider Program Team

Similar issue here! Prior to update Windows was fine no issues with SFC or DISM I had just recently formatted fresh installed 26100.1586 then updated auto to 26100.1742 Again SFC and Dism were fine. I had not re signed up for insider access and was not seeing or getting this update so I re signed up Downloaded installed and keep getting similar errors, SFC /Scannow says repaired all errors however each re-scan gives me Windows has successfully repaired corrupt files its perpetual. (PS Dism all comes back as fine no issues)

Because I re enrolled into the insider program I cannot go back to an earlier version (well no options were there for a go back to earlier version) So I Downloaded the uup image and did a inplace reinstall , Once completed the issue was still there, So I chose to go back to earlier version which undid the inplace install as there was no reason for it since it did not resolve the problem. Ive tried running sfc from safe mode command prompt again no resolve.

Any thoughts ? other than a wipe re install (Rather not wipe again) I am not sure if the sfc issue will cause any instability in this case

Thanks for your advise in advance
I'm not an Insider.

I had the same issue with 26100.1876.

after messing around a bit, I tried an upgrade install, using a 26100.1742 ISO. (I've been told that would not be permitted, but it was.)

I ran sfc /scannow twice. First time, it found and fixed integrity violations. Second time, no errors.

I wouldn't be surprised if the glitch turned out to have no significance, but I may stay on 1742 for the time being.

The problem has been reported to MS by several users.
We'll just have to wait for a fix. They have the same problem on Dev 26120.1843 and now on R.P, 26100.1876. 😝🤷‍♂️

Huge Thanks for the replies, Since it has effected so many I will sit on my hands until the next release and hope for a fix or tomorrow I may reg key out of the RP Channel and re install as bobkn suggested to the last version .1742

Cheers and GN

I did a DISM scan health after the update and no component store corruption was found. Then I did my SFC/ scannow and twice it found errors and repaired them. So I did a DISM restore health and more sfc /scannows looped with files that were repaired. Then I looked at this thread and was relieved but everything works fine still.

Fellas don't sweat this ghost in the machine release. One thing I have noticed is that it seems to affect Aida64 power sensor readings as mine freeze during gaming.

DISM Check Health gives me a 'no component store corruption' SFC is stuck in some kind of loop, show corrupted system but repaired. Welcome to the party.

BTW. This version runs ultra quick boot and program search and launch. Just sayin.

They can’t possibly leave it like this can they
They'll make a fix, hopefully on next update. Just upvote the FBH reports.
They now have both R.P. and Dev broken with the same bugs. 😵‍💫😎😝🤷‍♂️

I haven’t experienced any instability issues with the build. In my opinion I would think they would issue a pretty much immediate fix if their own update causes their own file scanner to say there are errors in the OS especially in a release preview build about to released to the masses. Or maybe my OCD is getting the best of me because it still works fine.

Just because it seems to work regardless of the corrupted files it keeps finding, it doesn't mean they don't have a bug that they need to fix. 🤬

This seems to be 'stuck' here, 8.63GB Windows cleanup. DISM cleaned ok and showed no errors.
Disk Cleanup doesn't seem to remove anything (drive space doesn't increase). It's about 2GB less than before the update on Monday
