Solved Latest Macrium Reflect 8 updates

Too late for me too, I have installed the update although I have not run a backup yet.

Considering the severity of some the posts, I am now worried about collateral damage to OTHER parts of my computer :eek1:

Shall I uninstall Macrium Reflect altogether until the storm is over? (I run other backup apps)

Or is it enough to refrain from running Macrium Reflect until the storm is over?

I'm running full backup manually right now Seems to work.

Yes, just did a Full backup. No icon or notification while running but the task is showing in Task manager. Image completed successfully with no issues, and it mounts.

I just ran a one-time Scheduled incremental at 9:38am. It worked fine, it mounted.
Yesterday I updated using the Macrium installer, as the Update file wasn't available at the time. Maybe installing this way does a kind of 'repair' as it installs the whole program again?

Can't think of any other reason why mine is working without issues.

I didn't have Reflect.exe enabled in startup and now when I enabled it it still isn't there but service is running. Another unusual thing for me was Malwarebytes installed but doubt it was the reason. The rest is my normal, as little startup items as possible, Only Security, AMD Radeon program and Realktek sound.

Maybe try re-installing?

Fair enough. Seems weird though. I just booted into Macrium Recovery, verified the Full and Inc images from this morning. All good. I'm not going as far as restoring an image

Malwarebytes full version/running in background? This has caused some problems with WIndows updates recently, maybe that could be the cause?
I have MWB installed but it's the free run-on-demand version that has no background processes running.

MBam was there for only a week to check for something, I just uninstalled it
Good thing I tried to boot from MR rescue. found out it went bad (actually an old 8GB SD card in USB adapter), didn't show in BOOT order in BIOS and MR couldn't refresh it. Now made another one. it booted and I run verification of backup files, It verified but those 2 files of full backups that MR says are in error didn't even show. extenisons are .mrimg.error_loading. Let me see what happens if renaming without error part helps.
Edit.
Renaming worked, they show up now and are accessible and mountable.

I always remake the bootable Rescue media, when I update Macrium.
I also don't update Macrium, unless I need to... which I haven't since .6635

I also, only run Verification, manually. I run it after every backup... but manually.
I'm not a big fan of automatic anything on any program really.
Things just seem to work better when done in discreet steps.

And I always use the bootable Rescue Media to restore.

For those worried if a restore will work, why not restore it to a virtual hard drive vhdx file and create a dual boot entry for it.

I am willing to bet all will be fine. I will try it myself later.

Just done it as well - no issues but I will restore a backup with older version and wait till fixed as it is not urgent.

FWIW, I ran a full Macrium Reflect backup on Monday, I have a System Restore point on Wednesday, and I just ran my trusted RoboCopy without problems.

This gave me the courage to run a Macrium Reflect differential backup (after the most recent update) and lo and behold, viBoot works without a glitch (viBoot using Hyper-V is my go to verification, making sure the image can boot, looking at new and change files, etc.) and the Logs > View Events window is empty > big sigh of relief :-)

Nonetheless though, I'll wait until the storm is over until I do anything else with Macrium Reflect 🤷‍♂️

I don't schedule any of my backups, just start each one manually. I don't really need the notifications or system tray icon either. I'd have to take some half-dozen machines back to the previous version. Everything I need seems to be working, I'll wait for a new patch.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro (and all my Hyper-V VMs).

    My SYSTEM FOUR is a 2-in-1 convertible Lenovo Yoga 11e 20DA, Celeron N2930, 8GB RAM, 256GB ssd. Unsupported device: currently running Win10 Pro, plus Win11 Pro RTM and Insider Dev, Beta, and RP 24H2 as native boot vhdx.

That's fine for you but this behavior of last update shows a bad bug and lowers the trust to whole program.
