Hi, would that
Junction Points - Restore to Default in Windows
repair win11 junction points ? cause now i have doubles in my searches.
& do i have to use all win7-win8.zip that and the win10.zip when some folders don't
appear for the available win10.zip versions ?

Also, this junction link:
C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Application Data
has this destination:
C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local

& several
C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Application Data\Application Data\Application Data

appear in my searches.. do i have to fix junction points to avoid that ?

AFAIK 2, 5, 6, and 7 do not exist on Windows 11 by default whereas 9 is named "C:\Users\Default User", not "C:\Users\Default Users". Also, 3 and 4 use a localized name so, for me, 3 is named "C:\ProgramData\Bureablad", and 4 is named "C:\ProgramData\Documenten" (but their target is in English).

That said, Link Shell Extension (LSE) gives the option to show icon overlays that are customizable and are enabled by default. Link Shell Extension

P.S., The junction at "%UserProfile%\Application Data" links to "%AppData%" whereas the junction at "%LocalAppData%\Application Data" links to "%LocalAppData%", where:
  • %UserProfile% ➔ C:\Users\%UserName%
  • %UserName%(user-name)
  • %AppData%%UserProfile%\AppData\Roaming
  • %LocalAppData%%UserProfile%\AppData\Local

that doesn't help at all, i need a tool that fixes win11 junctions without an even minimal reinstallation..

Who said anything about a reinstallation? LSE allows you to manually edit the target of a junction by going to the Link Properties tab in the Properties window panel of the junction. With the info I gave you, that shouldn't be hard. (If you don't have LSE installed, then this tab doesn't exist.)

That tool is amazing hmdi ))

i don't know how it works, i just installed the latest version from
Link Shell Extension
and it seems to have locked application data in my profile:
C:\Users\Admin\Application Data
&i don't see these endless doubles anymore & the folders locked.

Now i have two questions:

did that app fix the junctions ownership by removing, so i can uninstall the app now or is it locked because the app is running ?

& does lse correct targets of junctions ? cause i applied junction box this morning & i believe to have messed with win11's junctions targets..

if it doesn't correct junctions targets, then ill need the target names of all win11's default junctions so i can fix them all manually in link properties .. .

It is.

By itself, LSE does not modify/correct any symbolic links, directory symlinks, junctions, or hardlinks. But you can use LSE to make changes manually by using some of the features that it has. (The online documentation provides thorough, comprehensible explanations.)

Windows handles circular references in NTFS junctions by detecting and preventing infinite loops during operations like file system navigation or copying. Circular references can occur when junction points (a type of symbolic link in the NTFS file system) point back to their own parent directory or create a loop between multiple junctions.

The operating system uses a mechanism to track visited directories during these operations. For example:
  • When traversing directories, Windows keeps a record of each directory it has already encountered. If the system encounters a directory that it has visited before, it stops further traversal to avoid a circular loop.
  • Similarly, when copying or moving files, Windows identifies circular references to prevent endlessly duplicating or cycling through the same directories.
These safeguards are essential to maintaining file system integrity and preventing crashes or excessive resource usage. That said, developers and administrators need to be cautious when creating junctions to ensure they don't inadvertently create loops. It's always good practice to understand the impact of junctions and their targets before using them or modifying ones that already exist on Windows by default (or ones that may have been created by certain applications). This same advice also applies to other types of symbolic links besides junctions, and it also applies to hardlinks.

The Search Index of Windows may contain inconsistencies or may have been corrupted; this could help to explain why you were getting wrong search results. Reset and Rebuild Search Index in Windows 11

cause now i have doubles in my searches.
What "searches" are you talking about specifically? Are you using the built-in Windows Search capabilities? Or are you performing searches using some sort of third-party tool?
