Does your current PC meet Windows 11 minimum requirements?

My mother’s does but my desktop nor my Laptop does not. I am hoping when they update the requirements over the coming months, my Laptop will be supported as it is less than a year or 2 old. That way I can just purchase a new desktop when Windows 10 expires in 2025.

My computer and my BIOS meet requirements.
But the MBR partitioning of my Windows disk, does not.

It's a mixed bag for me. 3 desktops and a laptop all meet requirements, but 1 desktop (my Insider Beta Channel machine) doesn't. It has a 4th generation CPU and, of course, isn't TCM 2.0 capable. Correcting that would mean replacing the motherboard, CPU and memory. Since Windows Pro on it is OEM, that likely means purchase of a new key as well.

I had one that passed (laptop) and my desktop fails the processor and TPM. I did order the TPM card for my MB, so if they add some of the older processors I think my desktop will be OK. MB is AsRock Fatality1 with an AMD FX8300 CPU. I might need a new desktop...especially since my wifes' desktop is faster than mine. I haven't checked hers yet...think I'll go check it now.

I had to turn on TPM in BIOS (oops UEFI) . Afterwards it says I can run it.
Same. Ended up wiping my system drive completely and reinstalling: that drive was really screwed up. Once I did that, and enable TPM, everything was fine. Surface Laptop 2 was fine right away.

Hi,
Yeah cpu compatibility list is just flat out dumb along with all other security requirements coming in a way too close second...

I suggest you post that poll on the Windows 10 forum , despite that it still shows more than 50% of users here will be left behind but probably those are people like me who had the heads up that they will be left behind on new o.s adopting the planned obsolescence strategy of TPM being mandatory (knowing that TPM 2.0 surfaced around 2016~17) and were looking for answers on how to over-ride this (I bought one of my laptops in 2017 and yet still it didn't have TPM on it still as they were still selling older hardware in stock) , but then expanding the poll / raising awareness to those unaware users of Windows 10 may actually show figures that are massive compared to those with capable hardware :)

A lot of disinformation. Sigh.

I understand being irate - but the OS is not going to be out for several months, and you have planned non-obsolescence because Windows 10 is supported for 4+ more years.

No one says you need to buy a new machine tomorrow. Or next month. Or even next year.

Ok, Just finished installing Windows 11 about an hour ago ........

TPM on ......
Secure Boot on .......
Using 6th gen cpu , Intel i5-6500

Running fine so far, no discernible degradation in performance.

It took MS much longer for W10 to become dominant over W7 than expected despite fact W10 actually ran quite well on older devices (albeit SSDs helped). I wonder how many non TPM 2 pcs there are in the lesser developed countries. I get the impression outside of the richer G8 countries, many are using old hardware.

This artificial TPM 2 requirement basically cocks a snook at anybody who cannot afford to update aging hardware.

Just for grins I called up PC sales statistics for 2006 through 2021 and came to this conclusion:

Three-Quarters of PCs Sold Can’t Run Windows 11

Wow!
--Ed--
I'm not sure what's the point of this. I don't understand why would you expect any PC sold in 2006 to meet requirements for a new OS (any new OS).

Why is it that nobody complains that old iPad models cannot run the latest iOS? I have one, so I know what I'm talking about. Bought it in 2014 (iPad 4), the latest iOS version it supports is 10, which was released in 2016. Any iOS update since then is not supported by my iPad. So that's basically 3 years worth of OS updates. So based on that analogy, you should only look at PCs sold between 2019 and 2021.

Untrue. Desktop Operating systems have a much longer shelf life than portable devices (phones, tablets, etc.) do.

Take a look at how long those portable OSs get updates for. I'm on Android, and Google only promises updates for 3 years on it.

Then think about the fact that Windows 10 has already been out for 6 years now, and still has 4+ more to get official support.

And Windows 7 just dropped support last year.

So you actually think that new Windows (regardless, 10, 11, or 12) absolutely must support PCs sold in 2006?
