Interesting, thanks

I'm jealous. I miss BIOSes like yours.
These days, they've gotten... ridiculous.

I bet it won't be long before we'll be able to play video games in the BIOS. :D

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 15 years?
This is not going to turn out well for Microsoft, they will either need to support older gen CPU's or suffer the consequences, I see more systems failing for CPU compatibility than I see for anything else , TPM is really not the issue. Those of you trying to scalp TPM modules are probably going to lose money, if your pc is fairly new, you have TPM , it is just not enabled.
Half the world is not going to rush out to buy a new PC just to run Windows 11, and EVEN if they did, there is a chip shortage if anyone hasn't noticed, this will cause the cost of PCs to skyrocket as supply goes down and demand goes up because chip suppliers are VERY limited and will not be able to keep up with demand because chips are used in just about everything we use in modern life.

My CPU is well within spec to run Windows 11, I refuse to purchase a newer gen CPU just because they want me to.

I suspect somewhere between now and it's release , Microsoft is going to have to make a big decision
basically i agree. and the bad publicity this has already created won't do MS reputation any good. but people forget quickly

In UEFI there should be an option to revert to a BIOS, no? That's what I've read online about UEFI.

@dgwin11 now all you have to do is go into the Bios and under Secure Boot change the setting from Other OS to Windows UEFI and Secure Boot will show as enabled.

Tsk... I didn't notice it too which angers me. I've lost some of my hype for Windows 11 now.I was interested but it seems like my processor isn't supported.

Has anyone managed to get Windows 11 running on a 6th/7th generation processor? I know several peoples has got Windows 10 working with processors that go as far back as 2010.
Yes. i7-7700k. MS says I can't, but I clean installed with no issues. I also took the ISO for the "leaked" flavor and upgraded my existing Insider Dev build 21390 to 21966. It kept everything of mine. I will revert that back before next week, though, when the first Win 11 hits Insider.

I could just be dreaming all this because the Gods in Redmond say I can't do this. Hmmmmmmm

Thanks for the confirmation though I'm not at all surprised. Anyway, I too have an i7-7700K system that I may dedicate to the Windows 11 for testing purposes. Like my main system this one too has embedded TPM so that's not an issue.

Anyway, I ran the Windows PC health app on the i7-7700K system and did get the "The processor isn't supported for Windows 11" notice, so...

...cant run W11 on one of my laptops (msi GT72). Also the second compatibility tool from MS is telling me that i wont be
able to run W11 on my msi GT72. My second laptop (msi GE 60) doesnt even have an UEFI bios... ...so running these tools is pretty
useless on this machine... ;) :D

i hope there will be a workaround for my 'outdated'/unsupported CPUs... ...and also for my 'outdated'/unsupported
legacy BIOS (msi GE60). And: i dont have the req. TPM module. Is it possible to use an external TPM module for the USB port ?

I hope MS will add the support for older CPUs later after the initial release.

My laptop just finished updating even though PC Health Check says This PC can't run Windows 11. After running the fix 8Gadetpack my weather app is running OK. I still can't run 8gadgetpack itself though. Just out of curiosity I ran PC Health Check and still get the This PC can't run Windows 11 warning. Now I just need to use the laptop to see if I find any problems.

I use 8GadgetPack too for a couple of gadgets. I'll send a message over to the Admin of that website and let him know that it won't run on Windows 11.

Are you sure that your MSI GE-60 doesn't have an UEFI BIOS?
I have an MSI GE-60 2PE Apache Pro, and it has Legacy and UEFI BIOS. Doesn't have TPM module. I installed Windows 11 in my MSI laptop, bypassed tpm. I have secure boot. My CPU is an Intel 4th generation, Windows 11 work perfectly.
I had Windows 10 installed on UEFI BIOS.
You have to go to you BIOS and change it to UEFI. To do that, restart your laptop and when MSI logo appears, click on delete key to enter bios.

MSI GE-60 has UEFI. . Boot into BIOS, go to the Boot Tab, Change Boot Mode Select to UEFI, save changes and reboot and it should work.
