Agreed, as far as it goes. I believe Windows 11 would be pretty great if Microsoft hadn't removed so many features. Especially placement of the taskbar. I want mine on top without having to resort to third party apps.

Yes, they are gradually moving across Wynona but it should have all been done at the start of W10, after all it's just a new interface on existing code.

The Control Panel settings are all still there. It's just that now, most lead to inefficient settings pages rather than the efficient Control Panel pages.

Like, Devices and Printers now leads to this. I love how my DELL monitor (which doesn't have speakers), is listed under the audio heading. Such genius.

And ofc my TV which does have speakers is listed under Other Devices.
And my joystick isn't listed under Input. LOL

I guess we're only allowed two devices per category, even if they don't fit the category, or fit another category better. Such organization.

But... none of that is important. What is important, apparently, is that it now fits on a tablet or smart phone.

I sure hope they fired all those people that made the previous Devices and Printers page.
If they didn't, then how will those new people feel about their second class solution for Devices and Printers. LOL

And just think about all those poor kids in grade school who will be forced to spell Eleven with only four letters... F A I L.

Hallo,
you can use the startallback, it changes the control panel so that when you click you have the old controls, but it's a third-party tool again and costs about 5 euros.

Changes in user interface elements like MS did dont make W11 bad.

Most important is that the OS is stable and run applications and/ or games smooth and flawless.

And that is the case in my experience sofar (1yr). Even on unsupported hardware.

Not sure .. I understand that the intention is professed to be "forward thinking" ..
For me, I'm content to not get too involved in more learning curves and currently find W11
still allows me to do what I choose to do. As I don't use Facebook, Twitter or the like, it does
offer me better speed and security, but that probably only amounts to about 20% of its capacity.
In general, a bit of an overkill for my use ..

I know in 2025 Windows 11 going to become the only OS MS is going to service....... *sigh*

But , IMO ....

1. Too much eye candy
2. Too many non useful apps
3. The useful changes that HAVE been made could have just as easily been incorporated into Windows 10, after all Windows 10 was supposed to be the last Microsoft OS ......... Remember?
4. If your gonna use third party software to make it look and feel like Windows 10 then shouldn't you just run Windows 10? then again people run third party software on 10 to make it look and feel like Windows 7 , which means Windows 7 should have really been the last OS!

In my mind with the CPU, TPM and Secure boot requirements that MS boasts that you need to run 11 and makes it more secure, think about it ..... if anyone can take Windows 11 and run it on pretty much any old machine without meeting the CPU, TPM or Secure boot requirements means the OS really isn't that much more secure, it's the hardware that makes it secure which means Windows 11 is no more secure than Windows 10, we are just being led to shell out $$$ for hardware and or new machines that really just isn't needed.
MS is just feeding everyone a big ole plate of BS. If what I have aforementioned was a strict requirement to install 11 , then there should be no way possible to be able to install 11 on anything unless the requirements are met.

Right now , I view Windows 11 as nothing more than Windows 8.1 with lipstick on it. Windows 7 worked great, there was absolutely no reason for a Windows 8 or 8.1, Windows 8 was supposed to be more secure , remember? pffft! until we all kicked and screamed which brought about Windows 10 ..... the last OS

Now MS is cramming this heap down our throats and telling us to get used to it.

The only reason I have it installed at the moment is for the tabs feature which really isn't all that useful , sure you can have multiple tabs open but once you close Explorer , you lose them. If your gonna have a tabs feature then Explorer should be able to remember the last set of tabs you had open the next time you open it. Even the most basic third party tabs software does that.

I am quickly growing bored with 11 and will be returning to Windows 10 very soon , just too lazy right now to do another install.

It's a minor thing but with Win11 I don't have to keep adding (x86) when typing responses since there is no x86/32-bit version of Win11.

I'm not a "Microsoft Purist" but I don't use those kinds of third party apps. They cause more problems than they fix for me.

Windows XP SP3 was released on 21 April 2008 so no, definitely not true as far as Windows XP was concerned. At the time when Windows 2000 was released, I was an IT student who worked as an administrative assistant, full time dayjob doing nothing except managing piles of sensitive data at my own desk in an office where suddenly they gave me and my colleagues a brand new beige colored Dell desktop PC that had an Intel Pentium III inside and that came with Windows 2000 Professional and Office 2000 Professional. I graduated in summer of 2001 and got a transfer to a full time dayjob in the Brussels area, at the HQ of my employer. This HQ alone had about 2000 employees, all working inside just a single large office building. Windows XP was released just a few weeks after I had started working at the their IT department's HQ, writing a new data application based on ADO (with stored procedures inside an .mdb file, like explained in a code snippet that's in the book I mentioned above). You can rest assured that the vast majority of my ex colleagues over there had internet access (and so did I). A few months later, I was told that management had made a strategic decision to go for Enterprise Java as opposed to Microsoft .NET, and, although at that time I couldn't quite understand why they did, eventually I found out. In 2006, I took extensive training to become a J2EE software developer. This was at a training center, for six months and full time. They were using Windows XP SP2 back then (and so was I, at home on my own custom-built PC that had an Intel Pentium IV 3.4GHz iside, on an Asus mobo with 2GB of Corsair RAM and this one

Change for the sake of change is not good! Changing a user interface for no good reason is not good! There was nothing wrong with Windows 10 user interface, so not something productive!
