Let me tell you a secret: Many if not most Windows devs and staff use Apples as their daily drivers. Take a look at many of the Microsoft conferences. 90%+ of all laptops are Macbooks, the rest except a few are Surface or Surfacebooks. :wink:

I hate it simply because it is forcing me to buy a new computer. If I replace this 12-year-old (at least) top end gaming machine with its modern equivalent it's going to cost a crazy $17,000 CAD including tax and shipping. Needless to say I can't afford that on my fixed (from 2001) pension.
I tried it modded to install on unsupported hardware (using RUFUS) and can't get past BSOD if I install nVidia driver. So have to work in VGA mode, which is impossible. I am not going to try building my own.

Then they would have to stop trying to make it an OS for portable devices. Don't get me wrong, I do like Windows 11 and will continue using it until MS releases the next Windows OS. I see Windows 11 as an attempt by MS to revive Windows 8/8.1.

Well that is not really true yet is it?

W10 is still supported October 2025, and I am sure MS will have to extend that. Nobody is forcing you on to Windows 11.

Your argument is flawed blaming driver issues on Windows. Nvidea is notoriously bad at supporting old pcs or catching up with new OSs.

The one good thing is that Windows 10 will continue running on your computer even after it reaches the EOL. It just won't get updates.

I still have an old HP laptop that has Windows 7 and I think Vista installed on it. I'll have to start it and check. It was my first and only laptop that I could install two HDDs in. The only thing I didn't like about the laptop was the keyboard. It was shiny and unless the lighting was right I couldn't see the keys. A USB keyboard solved that problem as long as I was using it at home.

I still have a Windows 7 laptop that I use regularly. It runs Office 2003 and I use it to keep all my accounts on. I never use it on the internet now, so malware vulnerability isn't really an issue.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro (and all my Hyper-V VMs).

    My SYSTEM FOUR is a 2-in-1 convertible Lenovo Yoga 11e 20DA, Celeron N2930, 8GB RAM, 256GB ssd. Unsupported device: currently running Win10 Pro, plus Win11 Pro RTM and Insider Dev, Beta, and RP 24H2 as native boot vhdx.
