ShareX - How Do I Do That?

If you choose ShareX Menu Item "Hotkey Settings", you will see that one of the options in the dialog box has a red dot in the right-hand column.

You have to either change the Windows setting for that HotKey or change the ShareX setting for that HotKey. Looking at your error message, your red dot will be on the "Print Screen" HotKey setting. It's a simple fix.

I couldn't find anything about a ShareX Menu Item, but I closed the error message and there were two links to something or other. I right clicked on them and removed from task list.

Now I get this when I open ShareX . . . is it what I'm supposed to see?

P.S. I'm also using PicPick but just for scrolling screen capture. I find it a bit better just for that feature, so in PicPick I disable all the hotkeys so there is no conflict.

You can keep the same Hotkeys for each program, just don't run both programs simultaneously.

Thanks for all the info, everyone. I have a tutorial on managing files and folders I need to write, and it looks like ShareX is going to be put on the back burner for awhile, since there's a learning curve for me.

For now, I'm going back to the free version of Screenpresso, since I can at least get around in it. I will definitely come back to ShareX as soon as I have time to learn it.

Anybody know where I can find a User Guide/Manual for ShareX?

There is some sparse info under Docs▼ on their Home page
Someone named JanV, over at Steam, made up a nifty little ShareX Extended User Guide 11.0.1

So, Edwin, I am trying to get the hang of ShareX, can I pick your brain?

There's a thing, no secret, ShareX wont recognize settings changes unless ShareX has been run in Admin mode.
This is an easy task, just change the properties of ShareX.exe to run as admin.
BUT - Doing so causes the need to allow the Admin mode at ShareX start up. Including Boot obviously.

I successfully created a task to run with highest privileges:

Powershell: 
schtasks /create /sc onlogon /tn ShareX /rl highest /tr "c:\Program Files\ShareX\ShareX.exe"

But it doesn't work. ShareX wont start at boot/login

I could always just run ShareX in admin mode before I change settings, but as I am new to ShareX and trying to get it to work for me, changes happen frequently.

How have you overcome this, if at all?

I don't have your issues having to run it as admin. Same as @Edwin . I find that running the Dev channel has less issues.

Any settings. Change folder location included. Can not write to/save images in custom folder. Unless I change the default whilst in admin mode, really weird.

Hmmm..., did you install ShareX for All Users or only yourself as Admin?

I don’t remember an option, will reinstall and see. Most likely for current user only.

If you do get all the Settings the way you want, remember to export them so it's not such a huge p-i-t-a to redo them!

No option to install for all users so I assume it installed for my admin account. Have exported settings and if I need to change anything I'll just restart ShareX in Admin mode.
Not really a big deal. It saves images fine after the settings for the custom folder is made via admin mode. (y) 🙏
