I've read several reviews comparing the McBook Pro M2 CPU to the intel ones, and they unanimously say the M2 is faster than Intel, and it requires less power from the battery. I wonder how is this possible to have this double advantage in terms of state- of -the -art technology...

It's manufactured in 5 nM technology as System-on- a chip (CPU, GPu and all controllers) which shortens path between components and that eliminates much resistance and heat while smaller transistors use less energy. 13th gen Intel is 1nM for instance

I think you meant 10nm not 1nm for the Intel.

Thank you CountMike and geneo for the specifics. Sorry guys for my ignorance, but by nM you mean nanometers, therefore the way I understand it, by shortening the path in the circuitry they can improve overall speed. I think most high end computers are fast nowadays, but to extend battery operation is certainly something Intel should think about in order to compete. I have stayed with Windows because I don’t know anything about Mac Oss…

Yes, nanoMeters (one billionth of a meter). Although quite similar to architecture of desktop counterparts. laptop and small device CPUs are made with limited power and voltage requirements for obvious reasoms of prolonging battery charge and and heat production so that lowers their performance.

vs which cpu? Saying an m2 cpu is faster than intel in general isn't really accurate, my 10700k slaps it about and my cpu is pretty old now. Single core its slightly better but multi core it gets left for dead, Power consumption, who really cares?. Performance>everything else.

This is what I have, along with 32GB of ram and the Gigabit Internet, and a decent DP graphics card, and only surfing the web. I've tried for years to justify an upgrade, but haven't been able to yet. No, money is not the issue, and I'm surely not even in the frugal class, just lots of wisdom and common sense. :-)
