For some reason I've been listening to Stone Temple Pilots albums for the last couple of weeks. Maybe it's because I'm sick and tired of the so-called “popular” crap being hashed out and played nowadays on most commercial radios, maybe it's because I also miss Scott Weiland's voice and persona. Anyhow, I've always been more of a rocker I guess, even though I'll listen to anything from classical/opera to jazz and blues to, obviously, hard rock and heavy metal. Honestly, I can go from listening to Placido Domingo or Luciano Pavarotti to Elvis Presley to Muddy Waters or BB King to Judas Priest with no problems whatsoever.

Anyhow, as I posted this I was listening to...

Yeah a couple of days ago. He had a profound influence on my life as an 11yo when I discovered this albums mid 70’s

I totally agree with Dylan's comment. Plus, nowadays it's just a whole lot of recycled garbage. The 4/4 beats, the usual structure, lyrics that are meaningless, and the "music" is basically expendable, a flavour of the month or at most year. It's no wonder the older songs are usually the ones that last and are remembered for decades. I also must add that being Spanish of birth I can guarantee you that the “popular” music nowadays is all the same everywhere, the only difference is/are the language/s. You'll hear the same rap/trap or raggeaton crap in any country of the world, or Taylor Swift and Beyoncé copycats everywhere. The only way I'll distinguish a song in my native Spain nowadays is by our pronunciation which is different from the Latinos, but the “music” is the same crap. Same in Italy, for example, where nowadays you'll have a whole bunch of trap "artists", mostly from the Milan area, and it's basically something you'd hear in the poor hoods of the US, but in Italian.
