I have a PDF explaining which files you have to patch to force Windows 8 32-bit run on old Intel Pentium 4 socket 478 systems without NX/PAE support. I would start by replacing these files first. Probably these files are the appropriate for Windows 11 too, but I will test my theory on the official 24H2 release in October or November. As far as I remember they are those I said. I will find the PDF and confirm it.

My AMD CPU Phenom II x4 955 is sse4a and will support 24H2

with very early 24H2 builds, maybe.
newer & recent 24H2 builds (like with 26100.712 in the RP channel), probably not as it will either fail to boot or crash into a BSOD after startup

got myself an old but used AMD FX-6300 cpu which has sse4.2 & popcnt; I'm ditching some of those amd phenom ii cpus that I used to have

it is failing to boot, not crashing into bsod. it restarts after 2sec of showing boot logo.

so, there is still a hope that it is only cpu check where it fails. it could still be using popCnt only and not the whole sse4.2.

Try replacing winload.exe, winload.efi and ntoskrnl.exe files in C:\Windows\system32 with those from 23H2 version. It might boot.

I believe there's something else bc I tried but it restarts upon half way. It's a code within the cpu so no hope I'm guessing plus 24H2 isn't Fully released

24H2, and 24H2 V2 are both fully released, just not from MS, but just like the versions from MS, they do require the SSE4.2 Instruction Set to be present in the CPU.
They all run great, here on my AMD FX 6350. And my other AMD cpu's of a similar age.

The version I got has been totally De-Crapified, and installs and runs FAST.

It's well work anyone with a compatible CPU, giving it a try.

Cheers Mates:

well, in case that it really uses sse4.2 and that it makes the whole windows faster because of it. there is no point to make windows slower for the whole world so that only few extra users could run it.

There are not only a few extra users. Not everyone is running Windows 11 on a new PC (less than 5 years old). Most will buy a refurbished PC for office use or web surfing and instead of installing Windows 10 on it they bypass compatibility check and install Windows 11 to be future proof as much as possible. CPUs from about 2012 or newer will happily run 24H2 as they do have SSE4.2 and PopCnt. Anything older will not unless a workaround is found. That's why I don't rush to upgrade my test laptop (see 1st system specs) to 24H2 since it doesn't support SSE4.2 I will wait for the official release hoping that until then a workaround is found.

I wanted to install the 24H2 version on my unsupported laptop. Currently running 23H2, created a install USB with Rufus to remove the tmp and other checks, but the install failed, mentioning unsupported hardware. Rufus has always made a workable usb in previous versions

Try installing via dism.exe /Apply-Image. Plenty of posts on the forum explaining how to do this.

The main issue on unsupported hardware is that AFAIK you can't boot W11 from a non GPT device. You can certainly install W11 on a non GPT disk - especially if you use physical .vhdx files but you are going to have to create the boot loader on a gpt disk which can be a different disk.

If your machine is BIOS only then again AFAIK you are stuck unless you install W11 as a VM.

(If people CAN boot W11 from a BIOS only machine - excluding VM from HYPER-V etc or Macrium VIBOOT then please post here !!! I'm always willing to learn something new).

Cheers

yes, you can boot and run the latest (canary channel) win11/server, from mft bios(csm). 4 posts above you can see 7 pictures of 26058 being started and run that way (winLoad.exe). no complaints.

by using gParted iso, boot and create a single parititon on drive (from 1mb up until end). do not let it create partition like efi, recovery (recovery will be installed on main partition under dir recovery, but can be moved in any subDir. i put it under boot\recovery).
booting from gParted can but does not have to be real. by using vm like vmWare boot from iso, and add physicalDrive raw (the one that needs to be partitioned).

if you use boot drive larger than 2tb, this cannot be applied.

I have recently installed Windows 11 23H2 on my friend's PC. To maximise the size of the Windows partition I decided to do a Legacy BIOS (aka CSM) MBR installation. I deleted his old Windows installation, removed all the partitions and converted the disk from GPT to MBR. I then created a single NTFS partition to take all available disk space. To do that I pressed SHIFT+F10 to open a Command Prompt and ran diskpart. I didn't want to let Windows create the system partition and waste 500MB space, so I created the NTFS partition before and then started Setup from a Rufus created USB to bypass compatibility check. I simply clicked on the NTFS partition and Setup proceeded without any complaints.

So up to version 23H2 you CAN do a Legacy BIOS installation (including on older computers without UEFI firmware), as long as you bypass compatibility check. For 24H2 the only boot method is UEFI mode, but you can boot in Legacy BIOS mode if you replace the Windows bootloader with that of 23H2. There is a relevant thread.
