I already switched my old Dell XPS410 2006 machine from Windows 11 to Linuxmint 21.3. It runs a lot better with Linux. It only has 4GB of ram. I have used Linux in VMs for years.

Yes, your 6th gen i3 has the PopCnt instruction and is capable of running 24H2. Of course, you'd need to use a workaround to bypass the checks at install/upgrade time, but once installed it will work correctly. See my post #39 where I sucessfully installed and ran it on a 1st gen i5.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro (and all my Hyper-V VMs).

My mobile workstation has a compatible chip but its not on the supported list so it would some time for the upgrade to complete.

Currently Dev and Canary are both on the same build, 26058. They only differ in their minor build number, but there is no actual difference in the OS itself. Canary is .1000 and Dev is .1100. This is not going to last, Canary will soon go on to a higher (and more experimental) build, while Dev will remain more stable and heading towards what may turn out to be the 24H2 release build. You have a limited time in which you can choose which channel to go with, Dev or Canary.

If like me you are not an Insider, you can use this script to choose which channel's updates you want to receive going forwards. For getting to know what's in store for 24H2 I'd recommend Dev.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro (and all my Hyper-V VMs).

No matter which preview is an installed, it will be progressively fixed by Windows Update until the fall? My taskbar system tray disappeared upon boot.

I don't want to have to reinstall it over the coming months.

I'll see if it works when it's released but as I had to use "Rufus" in order to get Win 11 as a separate boot to my Win 10 in the first place and more "fixes" to get as far as 23H2 I should be prepared for an unbootable Win 11. We shall see. It wont be a major problem as I multi-boot 2 OS's.
If they occur I'll simply decline the upgrade when my Win 10 Pro expires next year and get rid of my Win 11 altogether.
