A backup of what? O tale regi;ar snapshots of my two Windows VMs (VMware) and would go to trouble of creating a Windows VM using QEMU.KVM but the probable is the way Microsoft is holding on to their ridiculous keys. It is what it is

I'm very disappointed with the whole Canary Channel. Gone are the days when new builds where exciting and worth the time to download and install. For some reason my new desktop is back to taking two tries to upgrade to the new builds. If I had known ahead of time I would have switched from the Dev Channel before it became the new Canary Channel. If it wasn't so much work I would just do a clean install and avoid the Canary Channel completely.

Me too, also same reasons for not doing clean install. Even the name for it suggests something different.

If MS would give a little detail of the improvements they are doing in the background to the kernel, I probably would be happy to be in the Canary Channel. They way they are doing it just makes it seem like we are wasting our time and effort to install and test the Canary builds. Seeing how we are willing to test Insider builds for free, MS should show us a little respect and treat us better. If MS can create departments to make new emojies and desktop stickers they can have someone who as part of their job can give us more detail about what is going on with each and every Canary build releases.

Imaged everything with Macrium and then 'upgraded' to Canary.
So now I can switch at will as it takes about 3-4 minutes to re-image.

I gained a minimum of 10 GB in the process and load times have been reduced.

I agree with the time-consuming as It took me 8-9 hours, so basically all day.

I have very little installed, just wish I could directly download fairly new Dev version without going thru UUP Dump which I got working only once.

To do a clean install on my new desktop would take me days. I know for sure because I've been there, done that. I still may do it though. If I do, the first thing I have to do is go through all of my paid programs and see which ones I would have to deactivate or whatever needs to be done before I start. The installing, registering and setting up the computer the way I had it a major pain. The last time I did a clean install was on my old desktop. I had to do a clean install because it refused to update to the newest Dev build. I tried using several of my Macrium images to roll back but that didn't help. For some reason the images of older builds that updated before refused to update and I was forced to do a clean install. The desktop only had a minimum amount of free software installed so it was easy. The only problem was that I lost all of my Free Software of the Day programs.
