Windows 11 Pro - version 24H2
I just bought an M.2 SSD Enclosure by Orico and inserted a Crucial P3 Plus 1 TB SSD. Unfortunately, Windows isn't allowing me to format it or even show it's contents in File Explorer. The first image is when I opened the properties of the D: drive (I can do at least much) and was just looking round. I presume the "Hard disk drive" is the external drive. The external drive has a usb C connector. It came with 2 cables: one has a usb A connector at one end and the other cable has a usb C connector at both ends. The computer gives me even less information when I use the cable that has a usb A connector at one end.

1.webpfortunately, while it does show up in Windows, I can't format it

    …still on a horse.
Please test the enclosure and drive on another Windows computer.

Post images or share links whether the drive is or is not seen in the BIOS.

See if there are any useful troubleshooting steps in this video:
No partition on the SSD?
The Bios doesn't even register the external drive. And now I get an error message from Windows that it can't even recognise the drive. I opened the drive to see if the ssd needed to be reseated only to realise that the thermal strip was sticking to both the lid of the case and to the ssd. Obviously reseating it that way didn't work.

In disk management, right click on disk 1 and select initialise. Then format it.

In Disk Management Right click on the Drive > Initialise.

That should result in it showing as Unallocated Space with a black bar.

Then you Partition that Space.

Then Format the partitions.

Initialise > Partition > Format.

So:
