Are you happy with Windows 11

Nice to hear 24H2 is working so well for you @CountMike .

Does your Windows Explorer have any weird menu issues in functionality or cosmetic issues? Curious...
There are some annoying File Explorer "features" but most are hailing since W10. It's nice to have tabs that work but lots of things I don't like so for shuffling files around I use Total Commander.
I simplified ribbon as much as possible as I don't used default folders nor One drive.
Some things I don't like.
It never opens at same place it was closed after restart.
Never opens last closed window, always starts with all drives.
Dragging files between folders or drives is unpredictable, some times it copies while other times it moves.
Only time I use it is when some program opens it.
Of other things, connection with phone thru BT still never works properly, actually whole BT seems flaky although I got USB BT adapter with latest protocol. It keeps on un-paring constantly. Using USB cable works fine, phone shows up in File Explorer and could be used same as any drive.

Tabs in File Explorer are utter uselessness to me. So much so, I actually even gave up on QTTabBar after I wanted to start using its toolbar feature (and the scripting capability thereof), but saw there was no option to hide its tab bar completely.
but lots of things I don't like so for shuffling files around I use Total Commander.
I simplified ribbon as much as possible as I don't used default folders nor One drive.
Some things I don't like.
It never opens at same place it was closed after restart.
Never opens last closed window, always starts with all drives.
When it comes to not opening the last closed window, File Explorer on Windows 11 still works exaclty the same way it did on any previous Windows version.
Dragging files between folders or drives is unpredictable, some times it copies while other times it moves.
On any Windows version, File Explorer moves the selected file(s) and/or folder(s) if dragging the selection to a different location on the same drive. Whereas dragging it to a different drive causes the selection to be copied instead.
Only time I use it is when some program opens it.
Of other things, connection with phone thru BT still never works properly, actually whole BT seems flaky although I got USB BT adapter with latest protocol. It keeps on un-paring constantly.
Both of my 2 laptops have an internal Intel Wi-Fi AX201 card with integrated Bluetooth. Bluetooth works fine for me on both laptops with 24H2.
Using USB cable works fine, phone shows up in File Explorer and could be used same as any drive.
Same here, albeit it uses the Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) so it cannot be used the same way as a so-called USB Mass Storage Device.

Pretty satisfied so far specially after 24H2 introduced better control over AMD Ryzen with two CCDs and substantially reduced latency. CPUis next to best from AMD so now I have full power out of it. GPU, although just middle class also got some boost comparing to 23H2. Never had any large problems, just usual annoyances. Manual updates and no automatic driver updates= no surprises. That and regular maintenance as well as updated drivers is key to stability.
Good to see you're still around, Mike. Happy New Year. Perhaps there's hope on the horizon for me after all. I'm glad to learn 24H2 works for you. I might give that a go on my AMD X570 build at some point. Not sure if it will boost my RX 590 Nitro ++ Sapphire special edition (Oi, weh what a long name!) , but perhaps that isn't really needed anyway considering the amount of gaming I do these days. Seems like all my hardware is going vintage like me. lol ;-)

I own too many laptops: A Dell touch screen with Windows 11 and 6 others (not counting the other four laptops I bought for this household.) Being a PC builder I own many desktop PCs as well. I am a father of five providing PCs, laptops, and tablets for all my family, most of which I have modified, rebuilt, or simply built from scratch. I do not own a cell phone, never have, never will.
I personally think Tabs are a game changer, at least for me. It's one of the many features I miss whenever I'm forced to use Windows 10. Later this year, we will be getting some more updates and improvements to the tab functionality.
I can automate the UI of multiple windows by writing my own code for this purpose. This also includes other UI features besides manipulating each individual window position and size.

For example, in addition to capturing each window's position and size, my code also can capture:
  • Each open File Explorer window's folderpath from the window's address bar,
  • its minimized/normal/maximized/restored (i.e., WindowState) property,
  • its content pane's vertical scrolbar position (if present) and horizontal scrollbar position (also if present), and
  • its content pane's selection (again, if present).
So, after the File Explorer windows are closed, the data captured from them can be used by the code to reopen each closed File Explorer window's folder in a new File Explorer window, and to restore the window's properties i.e. to work around the problem of these properties being reset back to their original defaults as a result of opening the new window.

My point here is, with a few easy adaptations in the code, it is possible to expand this rudimentary functionality far beyond what will soon be made possible to achieve with tabs, and, I was going to post more about this, maybe even write a few additional code examples so that I could then post them on here to give some idea of what I mean with that. But no one seemed to be interested so, I changed my mind, and I won't be changing it back because.. well, you know.. Belgium first! 😏

Interesting reading the different perspectives. That's why we tweak our PCs/ systems the way we like them.

Personally, I've really grown to like the tabs. It can be helpful with using a NAS drive with multiple drives and local drives all at the same time.

I know some of you have a helluva lot of drives!

I think once 24H2 is as well received and trouble free as 23H2, we'll really have something to celebrate.

The type of program you're describing is commonly known as a keylogger or spyware. These programs can record your keystrokes and screen activity without your knowledge, often running silently in the background.

It's called a KEY LOGGER and it came standard with Windows 10. I don't know if they reintroduced it to Win 11 or not but if they did then Win 11 sucks even worse than I originally thought it did. At least Win 11 doesn't have Cortana. I'm gonna keep saying it: Win 7 was the last real OS MS ever made.

With the new recall you also get screen capture.. and then it is spyware as you get both keylogging and screen capturing. :-)
and also a key logger is spyware
