Cant upgrade from 23H2 to 24H2

I've given up doing an in-place upgrade of Windows 11 23H2 to 24H2 - I can't resolve the roll back and "0xC1900101-0x40017" errors - which we're now also getting on random laptops.

:(

Going to have to re-image any devices which exhibit these errors.
Yes, if you just upgrade an unsupported computer from 22H2 to 23H2 or from 23H2 to 24H2 without taking all precautions discussed in the sticky thread "Let's install Windows 11 on unsupported computers" will fail. Been there, done that. You have to disconnect from the Internet and stay offline until the upgrade is completed successfully. This will prevent Windows Update to screw your working drivers and install anything that could lead to a BSOD. Yes, yes, there is a hidden setting not to use Windows Update during the installation (you must first click on the text to reveal it), but I would bet that makes no difference. The only safe way to make sure Windows Update won't try anything stupid, is not to have access to the internet. Also I would disable all startup applications including third-party antivirus and antimalware so they won't interfere with the upgrade. And also disable all non-Microsoft services. To do that press WIN+R to open a Run window and execute msconfig to open Microsoft Configuration. Go to the Services tab, check the box to hide all Microsoft services, then uncheck the boxes to disable any non-Microsoft services. Then click on the Startup tab and on the text to go to Task Manager, Startup section. Disable all startup applications. Then disconnect from the internet, mount the Windows 11 ISO (aka Open with File Explorer). Search for cmd and right-click to Run as Administrator. On the Command Prompt execute D:\setup /product server to start Windows 11 Setup. Replace D with the appropriate drive letter for the virtual DVD containing the ISO files.

If it rolls back, it should be one of the last two on the list.

I've had exactly the same problem and was able to finally solve it. May be it's helpful to others as well.
Be advised that this is "a" solution and not "the" solution and really depends on your own situation.

I've tried all hints given here to no avail but still was looking for a malfunctioning driver until I remembered that I had replaced the system disk (from 500GB to 1TB) and used cloning software to migrate the OS.
This also created a new boot partition on the new disk that turned out not to be the original "Windows Boot Manager" (Named something different).
Now I had this new Boot Manager on top of my boot order devices-list in the bios. On booting 23H2 this was fine, but as it turned out upgrading to 24H2 was impossible giving this dreaded error message due to this.
Since the old original "Windows Boot Manager" was still in the bios Boot order list, I moved that to the top of the boor order list and than the upgrade went like a breeze.
