First option (create a new partition) you can do with Minitool.
Minitoll creates a script with individual commands and when you hit Apply it does all in the sequence the script was created.
Select the recovery partition, right click and select delete.
Right click on the unallocated space created (17G+225G) and select Create. On the window that opens give the partition a name and a letter.
Hit apply

If trying to find out what causes the incompatibility voids the Warranty, no thanks. I would rather wonder. I explained many times why Warranty would be void, you don't want to accept it. That's your right but don't make others void their Warranty to satisfy your curiosity. The cause is probably some unsupported instruction set. Not all storage controllers or disks fully implement the complete AHCI instruction set. If the disk issues any unsupported instruction the controller doesn't know how to act and there is a lockup. I don't care if Crucial claims the SSD is compatible, it is not.
