How to squeeze a quart into a pint pot.
Not exactly a Win11 upgrade as it is compliant anyway, however I was bored and felt like attempting the ridiculous.
Inspiron 3881, i5-10400 useless 260 watt PSU, having a GTX1060 spare, Google PSU upgrade Options, seems the usual method is to Stick an ATX PSU out the back and feed the cables through, got the 24 Pin ATX to 6Pin Dell motherboard adapter, very cheap and tested with a handy spare PSU to see if it actually works. It does however not happy with a PSU outside the case, defeats the point on having a small case.
So get tape measure out and measure up the space and see if anything will fit, enough room to fit a SFX PSU, problem using the original hole for the plug, an SFX would fit however the fan would be on the bottom of the case. Not to be beaten I looked at virtually every SFX PSU. Success Corsair have the socket on the other side, the only one to do that, so I can have the fan at the top, problem solved!
One 450 Watt Platinum SFX modular PSU now powering the Inspiron and one EVGA GTX 1060 installed, just about enough holes at the back for the PSU fan to vent, tested for around 4 hours and it seems to be coping OK. As it's working I will probably drill some more holes for better ventilation and a couple more for the screws, currently only 1 screw holding it in, seems to be pretty solid though. The GPU fan, only one is actually in the space behind the PSU.
