Be careful about getting a graphics card for the Intel machine, if it has a 180W PSU as mentioned earlier. There aren't many discrete graphics cards that will like that. You may be able to get away with something like an nVidia GT 1030. It consumes a mere 30W, and needs no auxiliary PCI-E power connector. I wouldn't recommend going back further than that. It's a "Pascal" card. That has been followed by the "Turing" cards and the present "Ampere" cards. I believe that neither Turing nor Ampere have 30W models. (An RTX 3060ti uses 200W.)

A Radeon RX 5700 (previous generation card) uses 180W.

180W seems insufficient to me in any configuration. Keep in mind that the PSU power rating does not mean that all that power is being drawn all the time, it just means that's the maximum that the PSU is capable of. Personally I prefer to err on the side of caution and always get a PSU that is capable of at least 30% more than I actually need based on the power ratings of the processor, etc. Compared to the rest of the computer parts, PSU is really not expensive, but it's very important to the stability of the system.

Thanks, Bobkn. I have had the NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti in the Intel and everything worked just fine. I didn't do any graphics work, but I did use the system for about a week or so before I installed the AMD 2600 (no integrated graphics) in the other one and had to use the card in it.

Guess I should look into updating the PSU, since I want this system to be the best it can be. Who knows what I'll get into next!?!

Surprising. The 1050ti cards I've looked at have a 6 pin PCI-E power connector, and consume 75W. In principle, 75W should be available through the PCI-E X16 slot all by itself. I wonder about the card you have.

I had a Ryzen 3 2200G/Gigabyte B350/mbr Desktop combo which, of course, didn't meet Win11 specs. So I bought a Surface Pro 7 as insurance while I tinkered with my PC. First, I bought a Ryzen 5 3400G, which was said to work with the B350 chipset AND had TPM. Well, THAT didn't work out: USB devices kept freezing/disconnecting.

So next I bought a Gigabyte B450 MB. Re-installed Windows 10 to UEFI standards. Win 11 beta now installed.

I tried to see if it has a plug for extra power but the side I need to look at faces down and I would have to pull the computer out and lay it on its side. I've looked at getting that card and to date I've never seen an input/plug for extra power. They all simply require just 75w., and if you check the specs.. here.. it's 75w

I just searched my order history on Micro Center. The order came up and shows it was purchased on 09/27/18. When I clicked on the specs the page was not found. When I installed the card in my new desktop I don't remember seeing a extra power plug.

They don't require them. The motherboard can power them without an issue. That's why I like them so much

I did some more searching and on the NVIDIA site and it list that the minimum system power requirements is 300W.

So, the 1050 ti seems to be going down price wise, but it's still more than I paid for mine when it was "new".

I saw a 1030 ti for around $152.99. Fair price vs $299.

Is the video difference between the two enough to support the higher price for the 1050? Also, looking at the specs, I didn't see anything about DirectX support. I think that's necessary for Windows 11?

Yes.. it matters but from my investigation it supports Direct x 12. And you can find a few for sale on Ebay, used, for about 200
