Known and Resolved issues for Windows 11 version 24H2

 Windows message center:

Current status as of January 21, 2025

Windows 11, version 24H2, also known as the Windows 11 2024 Update, is now broadly available.

Starting this week, we are expanding this latest Windows version’s phased rollout. We are gradually offering this update also to eligible devices running Windows 10, version 22H2.

If you have an eligible Windows 10 or Windows 11 device, you can check if the update is available by selecting Settings > Windows Update and selecting Check for updates. If your device is ready for the update, you’ll see the option to Download and install Windows 11, version 24H2.

Devices running Home and Pro editions of Windows 11, versions 23H2 and 22H2 that are not managed by IT departments will receive the update automatically. Users can choose the time to restart their device or postpone the update.

For Copilot+ PC devices, new features will continue rolling out in phases to select devices and markets in the Windows Insider community. Note that availability may differ based on the various silicon platforms.

We will regularly share more information on the Windows 11 2024 Update rollout on this page.

I wonder why Microsoft always seems to be having so much trouble keeping their clock working these days. I have so much to look forward to on my new Windows 11 ready work station! :winkt: I can hardly wait.

Windows 11, 24H2 Build 26100.3194. Great!!! Found an issue with this one. After the update (went from 3037 to 3194) and cleaning the Component Store (8 packages were reclaimable. Except for the 2 base packages that are deeply superseded (1742)) a ScanHealth found problems. RestoreHealth... Seemed to be stuck for 20min at 62,3%. (It was repairing an internal package with the name "photon" inside the name.) Microsoft keeps us surprised with new "features"

More info over that; How to identify Reclaimable Packages reported as count by "Dism /Online /CleanUp-Image /AnalyzeComponentStore" #57

UPDATE 3/07:
New resolved issue. See first post for more details. :alien:

AutoCAD 2022 might not open after updating to Windows 11, version 24H2
We have applied a safeguard hold to prevent affected devices from updating to version 24H2 and encountering this issue

Who has problem with this software or another can do this :

1) right click on the shortcut
2) press on Compatability tab
3) make V on "Run this program in compatability mode for:"
4) change it to Windows 8 (I don't know why there isn't Windows 10).

4) change it to Windows 8 (I don't know why there isn't Windows 10).
This is understandable.
Windows 10 and 11 are seen as being part of the same family. If it doesn't run with Windows 11, I bet it doesn't run with Windows 10 also. Deep down inside both engines there isn't that much of a difference between both versions apart from enhancements, looks, the way to do things and additions.

There is only one major difference between Windows 10 and 11 and that has nothing to do with software; Windows 10 ran on any reasonably hardware.

With the introduction of Windows 11 they made one serious (i.m.o. mistake) change: Demands.
- No old CPU's are supported.
- TPM 2.0 must be there.
- Secure boot must be supported.
The world went ape (incl. me. My old system failed on the 2 first demands) We found a way arround these demands and... It ran just as fine on old hardware as would Windows 10. If they didn't made such demands we would we still all be running Windows 10 24H2....

So if it runs on Windows 11 (and complies to its higher demands) it sure will on Windows 10. So a compatibility flag for Windows 10 makes no sense.

Someone else had mentioned it had to do with Windows scaling settings. Mine is at 125% and the menu goes up, if I set it to 100% then it works correctly.

Your post is confusing.

The first image shows exactly my issue, yet you say you don't have it. Your second image conveys zero info on what was done to solve???
Sorry for the confusion. Screen 2 is the one that is relevant. When I click on it the menu should roll down as expected. This is standard behaviour. I have done nothing to solve this. (Note; both menus are not the same. The first one is what you get if you right click onto your desktop. It drops down also.)

I thought you right clicked on the desktop first and then clicked on the dots. My bad. I shouldn't posted the first picture as you clicked on those dots straight away.

This was a problem some while back. An update fixed that problem. It's now back again in your case. I suspect that a registry setting is the cause of this. There are loads of keys inside the registry that has to do with Explorer (HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer) But which key is responsible for this behavior? I do not know. DId you had this from the start? (Before the 3476 update) When did it appeared? Did you used a tweaker program?
