@Caledon Ken

Yahbut, my settings are identical for that on both my office machines. I'm sure the problem on the compliant, my main machine, was that too much was running when the update occurred. Nothing was running on the no-restart machine.
Thanks for the heads up.

Post #1 updated.
@Bree
I get a pop-up banner from MR when there's a new version. Don't have to open MR. It's just a function of the software when there's an update. Don't you get the banners?

I can't find the download link for 8.0.7675.
That seems to be a typo, there's no new update for v8.0, the new update is for 8.1.7675

But Macrium said they would provide security updates for the free version and this is a security update isn't it?

Yes, they did. But I have Reflect Free v8.0.7279 on some of my machines, and checking for updates says there are none available. Maybe there will be one soon? I'll keep checking and update post #1 should there be one.

Try downloading the installer and upgrading it. I'd do a reboot first in case something is preventing it updating.

I have the paid version 8.1
It successfully updated to 8.1.7675

I see you use Bitdefender. Maybe check the Bitdefender firewall and see if it blocked the updater?

I normally keep it blocked so I can control Macrium's updates... but I have to allow the updater in the firewall to get the updates...

Image1.png

I do the same for rmbuilder.exe which creates the bootable rescue media.
I have to allow it also... when creating new rescue media.

I don't know which Bitdefender you have. Mine is Bitdefender Internet Security (AV/firewall).

    Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 13 years?
I also have paid version Of MR 8.1 and also Bitdefender Total Security. I haven't blocked any Macrium Reflect process in Bitdefender firewall. The recent update went ahead smoothly. ( I updated the paid version of MR on my Windows 10 machine this morning and then forgot it. After reading Ghot's post above I updated on this machine just now)

Apparently, their site suddenly did not like my ISP's IP address, I guess. Trying the update link above was the same, download wouldn't start. I thought to try my VPN, and it worked right away! So I guess I need to find out what their problem is with my address.

A 503 Service Unavailable error means that the page or resource is unavailable. There are many reasons why a server might return a 503 error, but some common reasons are maintenance, a bug in the server's code, or a sudden spike in traffic that causes the server to become overwhelmed.
If you consistently get this, set your DNS back to auto, which should be your ISP. If still errors try resetting the Network and it's components.

Macrium confirmed on their forum there was an issue with their cloud service in some locations and a fix was being worked on. The update went through for me today without a problem.

.....Installing it was a bit of a palaver for a security patch.
Very occasionally it's not as simple as patching a few files, in that case it's the full installer that Macrium will download. This was one of those times.

Post #1 updated.

When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

This is how Macrium is supposed to look for the WinRE to use....

It would appear that if your DEV build is the version that's currently in your recovery partition then it will be found under <ALL VOLUMES>\Recovery and used. I would think that if you turn off the recovery environment in all builds then the only WinRE.wim it could find would be the one in the C:\Windows\System32\Recovery for the currently booted windows. If you do want the recovery enabled, then try only enabling it in your 22621 build.
Tried that. Nyet. It's seems that MR is poking and peeking programmatically without regard to status. If it finds it on any OS, enabled or not, hidden or not, drive letter or not, it is used. Very efficient for the purpose intended, but incorrect for proper build.
