The Windows Eleven Thing


@Dru2 I'm with you in the clean desk group. I have nothing on my desk except my two computers. I don't need or want anything else there.

I like to use my own photos on my computer screens and I prefer not to litter my screens with icons. I use the option "Automatically Hide the Taskbar". I don't see my Taskbar unless I actually need to use it.

I went paperless more than 20 years ago. My color laser printer introductory toner cartridges are still only 25% used.

My wife and I christened my desk, for a good 2 hours. It got pretty wild for a while. Doing our taxes is always a workout ;-)

Yep. But as we some are bothered by those that like clean ones. I guess it insults their false sense of work ethic :oops:

Oh, and as an aircraft mechanic in the USAF, if your area was cluttered, you were a disaster waiting to happen ;-)

BTW, the photo is mine as I'm also a photographer, so I use my own backgrounds :-)

To me, a cluttered desk means I have to clean it up before I can go to work. A clean desk means I'm ready, willing, and able to go to work.

Things do sometimes get a bit cluttered, and that's when I lose my most important stuff. This morning, I looked and looked for my Windows 11 for Dummies book, but couldn't find it. So, the teacher had to hold class without her book. Fortunately, the class forgave me for my unpreparedness . . . We had a session with several small hints and tips on storage of files and folders plus how to change from Quick Access to This PC.

When I got home from pool league tonight, I pulled out the keyboard shelf of my desk . . . lo and behold, there sat my Windows 11 book right where I'd put it beside my keyboard . . . Sheesh!

Every time I clean up my desk I put myself on a new mission for finding things. It's like new territory to conquer: "Let's see now.. Which drawer did I put the stapler in this time? Where did I put the stamps... Oh, right the tape got moved to the second drawer and the printer paper was moved to the bottom drawer in the filing cabinet. Or, wait.. Didn't I change that??" Adventures in Desk Clean Up. No doubt someone has an app for that too.

I'm starting to love this Windows 11 Thing. ;)

Fantastic piece of photography @Dru2. If I had been able to capture that, I wouldn't want anything to impede it's appearance either but I might never get any work done. I'd be daydreaming about being back there, far, far away in my own little fantasy of peace and quiet. Just beautiful.

This is my desktop screen for today. I captured this photo in my own back yard. This is a stand of Bottle Brush Buckeye in full bloom. Lighting is everything in photography. This was captured just as the sun was going down. The foreground is beautifully lit in 3 dimensions and the woods behind gives a great dark background.

As for a clean desktop, notice there is absolutely nothing to interfere with my photo as I like to use "Automatically Hide the Taskbar" in my Taskbar settings. Now "that's" clean!

The only icons I keep on my desktop are Recycle bin, and a customized Shortcut folder icon.

When I want to see my images in all their glory, I look at my prints or tiff files. The images posted are just jpeg copies which don't do the prints of tiff files justice :-)

My daughters are the same with their laptops - shortcuts galore on the desktop. When they see my desktop, they're like how can you find anything, but I wonder the same with all that clutter on theirs o_O

I bought a bigger monitor with higher resolution just so I could get more icons on the desktop.

It's obvious to me, that everyone has their own idea of what a PC desktop should look like. That's expected, and it's OK.
I've always been one for Simplicity, efficiency and lastly, esthetics. And I don't like clutter.

Everything I will do during the day is right there, just a mouse click away. No hunting necessary.
