Hi All,
Thanks to the posters advice I have been reading here I decided to update my Z270 i7-7700k (silly that this processor is not included) unsupported system to 24H2. I used the recommended Rufus 4.6 and it downloaded the 24H2 ISO and installed from the USB without a hitch. I done the process completely from the 270 system to make sure there were no conflicts from files that I may have downloaded on my other Z590 system.
I recommend the Rufus 4.6 for anyone who have a unsupported system with specs that will work for the update 24H2..

I am still waiting on the WU for the 24H2 on my supported Z590 system lol.

I agree Rufus is pretty awesome. I can’t work out why people mess around with other methods.

I think the benefit of Rufus not just being for unsupported hardware, is able to create local accounts on the fly, assign usernames, disable Buttocks etc is a great bonus.

Flyby is new, given time it should do well.

That's probably a good thing, there are still some bugs in 24H2. MS seem to have paused the rollout while they fix some of them, none of my supported devices have been offered it either.

I did persuade one to get it through Windows Update by setting 24H2 as its Target Feature Update. The bugs are not that serious (for me) just an annoyance, but some hardware has real problems. On balance I'll be keeping it, but I'm in no hurry to get it on the others.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

Well my wife isn't complaining with the 24H2 yet for what she does on a computer, so that's a good thing :)
