Who's Keeping Windows 11?

I'm running a Win 10 / Win 11 dual boot on my desktop. I'm now doing most things on Win 11. It normally boots direct to Win 11 (boot menu timer set to zero and Win 11 is default). If I have to go back to 10 then I have a shutdown.exe shortcut for that
( C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /r /o /f /t 00 ) which is quicker than finding my way through the Win 11 setup menus.

Indeed we do at some point. Some of us have machines currently capable of running Windows 11. Many will need a new PC. I have one supported machine running W11 pro. Two others that are not eligible for W11. For those still on Windows 10, the 21H2 update has been released today.

I am sure not everyone jumps on every new operating system as they are released.

I keep Windows 11 and i am satisfied with it. I also have another computer with win 10 and a notebook with win 11. Both windows 11 have processors out of the supported list and they work fine for now.

There may be 11.1 to 11.9 but it is changing forward not backward.

10 is not going anywhere soon. I am keeping a Windows 10 machine, too since my 4790K cpu is not compatible with 11. I know there is a "hack" to run 11 on it and I do have one for it (just for fun) but it is staying with 10. It is already replaced with my new R9 3900X build running Windows 11.

It's now 6 weeks since upgrading both of my computers to Windows 11. I'm still having no problems. I've not needed any hacks to make W11 look or act like a previous Windows version. Since I'm still using the same Windows Shortcut Keys, much of the time its transparent what operating system I'm using.

The first time I saw a keyboard with a dedicated Windows Key, I thought "What a waste". Now I couldn't use my computers without the Windows Key as it's used in most of my Keyboard Shortcuts.

Well I rolled back (rather I restored from a Windows 10 backup) a couple days ago. There is a show-stopper in Windows 11 production that has been fixed in the dev channel well before the October release. Just getting tired of dealing with the dev channel builds soaking up my time. Will jump back on board when they fix the bug I expect.

ICC Color profiles are broken so software for calibrating monitors is broken. This prevents me from doing color accurate photo editing.

Ouch! That should have a priority to be fixed. With my new OLED screen on Computer One, I didn't feel the need to calibrate yet. I'll definitely be watching updates.

Who needs more than 16 colors anyway? This is a vast improvement because now you can use the Windows key on your keyboard to manually calibrate each color, so you'll adapt to Windows 11 in next to no time. Just try to stay positive, man! 😉

I'm just an ardent amateur photographer, but accurate colors are still important to me. I have an x-rite calibrator that I use. I'll be watching for MS to implement the fix.
