After a lot of issues and TS with an Asus mobo running under both Win 10 and 11, I purchased a new ASRock X870 PRO RS WiFi mobo and did a clean install of Win 11 Pro on Jan. 14th. I had cleaned some stuff off my drive from my new install of windows and some apps, and was going to restart my PC, but while I was in settings I thought I would check to see if there were any windows updates available. Windows start it check, then just became stuck checking for updates. I restarted my PC, and as soon as I open settings it was still trying to check (stuck). I went to services and chose to stop windows update service, that ended it being stuck on "stopping". I contacted Ms support (no quality agents working there), they could not remote in because I could not install Ms Quick Assist from the Ms Store because of the windows updates be stuck / broke. I followed the agent's directions, but he was not able to solve or fix the issue. Like always they just wanted me to install windows over windows, with the option to keep my files and folders. I don't like doing that because this option undoes all your windows tweaks in Explorer, write over them and resets them to their defaults of clean install. I find it very hard to be that Ms has "no" ways to fix this issue other than reinstalling 11.
Everything ran as admin
1. I tried to run Windows Update Troubleshooter, but it would not run.
2. I tried to run usoclient StartScan command in power shell, it did nothing. Went to its Dir location and tried to run its exe as admin, it still would not run.
3. Scanned my C-drive it was good.
4. Ran all of the below and then restarted them...
net stop bits
net stop wuauserv
net stop cryptsvc
ren %systemroot%\softwaredistribution softwaredistribution.bak
ren %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 catroot2.bak
net start bits
net start wuauserv
net start cryptsvc
5. From an elevated command prompt, I ran "Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth", comes up with Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool, Version: 10.0.26100.1150, then space Image Version: 10.0.26100.3194, but goes no further, never finishes. like everything else Ms, it gets stuck.
None of these commands would run / finish:
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
