Laptop advice (want a quieter one)


i have two amd 5000 series laptop cpu powered all in ones and they are near silent.
amd ryzen 5 5500U in one and amd ryzen 7 5825U in another.

these all in ones are made entirely of laptop components and they are very quite.
they may not be powerful enough for serious gaming but they are more then capable for anything else.

just to give you an idea on amd laptop cpu's.

I have a laptop with the following:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 6800H
GPU1: AMD Radeon 680M
GPU2: Nvidia RTX 3060 Notebook

Normally I run it in Quiet mode. The CPU is normally 60-65C at idle. During normal use it is very quiet.
When I want more performance to play games I put it in Performance or Turbo mode. The fans ramp up as needed. Even then they are not overly objectionable. If I want it really quiet to play games I use headphones.

I have heard of other people that had laptop fans that were noisy during normal use. I suspect some of these laptops were low cost ones that wanted to pretend to be gaming ones.

Last November a friend bought an HP laptop with an Intel I5 CPU for about $500. It is great for what he uses it for. More importantly it makes no noise. His laptop has a Intel Core i5-1335U CPU. It is very comparable to the AMD Ryzen 5 5500u.

5500U is popular here, so I will try with some HP, I think. Probably will have better luck than with Lenovo Intel combo.

5500u is a good cpu. 6C/12T 2.1GHz boost to 4GHz 15TPW 105c top temp.
my wife's HP computer runs very well with it

I'm still researching what's best for me. Does anyone have experience with the AMD 7X series, eg 7520U. The TDP must also be 15W, so it shouldn't be loud. I'm just thinking in the direction that the 7 series is a year and a half younger than the 5 series.

For AMD U = "ultra-low power". For thin-and-light laptops. They also have H, HS, and HX but these CPUs are higher power. I have a laptop with an AMD Ryzen 7 6800H CPU. For normal use it is relatively quiet. However, it starts to get noticeably louder when playing games. It is all about what you need and how much noise you can tolerate.
