I would not put anything in the case. I prefer building everything on the MB box, power it on, setup Windows and only once everything seems to be in working order, I put everything in the case.

I've watched a lot of videos that suggest doing this. I however have never done it, always fully assembled in the case and been lucky, never had an issue. Probably built 30 computers in my day.

You've been lucky...out of several hundred computers I've assembled, many have had at least one issue. It's a pain pulling everything out to just fix "that one thing". Also it's much more efficient to screw everything together on the table. And while at it, just connect power and see if it works. :wink:

I also prefer building on the bench first and then putting it all in the case after. Disassembling to install in the case is about the only real drawback but even this can pass as a quality check, plus it's a good way to get well-acquainted with your hardware. Rule #1 - Be gentle. Rule #2 - Take your time. Rule #3 - (probably should be rule #1) Read the instruction manual. < But hey, that goes without saying right? Also, it's a good idea to check each component one at a time as you build. It will save you in the long run from a long trouble-shooting list. Example: Install the memory. Boot up the system and see if the UEFI/BIOS sees all the memory. Turn off PC/unplug and add next component. Plug in and boot up again. Look for new component in UEFI/BIOS, rinse and repeat. You get the idea. This way you can ensure that each component is working one component at a time and that all of the components are working together properly.

@Lance1 I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of your new build. Looks to me like you have chosen some good quality components there. I've built and rebuilt hundreds of PCs and I still never tire of the thrill that comes with putting a rig together.

I know, right? I even love it when a friend says maybe they want to build and I start researching parts and put together a quote for them. I get the urge to build every couple of years, but have no need to replace my stuff that quickly anymore.

It's like some sort of mystical magic takes over. Makes me feel like a kid again. That's probably why I keep restoring old PCs and rebuilding them for other people BUT ... A brand new PC from scratch is the ultimate thrill. My 12 year old wouldn't let me build our newest addition because she wanted to do it herself. She suffered me to install the fans and that was it. Just got the matching fan for the cooler delivered to me an hour ago. Perhaps she'll let me do that.

My M.2 is in transport so I don't expect it to showup till next week so... I'm starting my build tomorrow morning Less the M.2. So when it does showup I install it and install Windows and I'm good to go. I took a pic but not unpacked that would be cheating! I want it to be fresh... New! So this is my setup less the GPU which is migrating from my old system. I plan on documenting the build so wait for that. I'm pumped! Not going to sleep tonight. Well if I down 2 or 3 Rum and Coke then maybe.

Man, I'm pumped! What new challenges will we encounter? What will the stock speeds be like? What sort of XMP will your RAM give you? How quiet will it run? Be sweet. Be gentle. I don't advise any overclocking until you've had it for a year at least. BTW I personally share pretty much the same sentiments as you concerning RGB but it's kind of hard to get away from so I try to stick with one uniform colour as much as practically possible. Not saying RGB is bad. Just saying it isn't good for me and my ADD. ;)

Nothing wrong with a good looking build but when it begins to resemble a discotheque more than decent tech that's when I make my exit. I prefer to keep my eyes on my monitor and owning a rig with the potential to put someone into an epileptic seizure somehow fails to resonate with my sense of reason. A flashing light to me means something needs my immediate attention. Maybe it's because I'm from another time. This is, after all, another one of those 'user preference' things. Even my AMD cooler with the purdee lil rainbow spinner thingy majigee is set to "stay still and stop flashing" mode.

TBH the pulsing would eventually get to me, but I do like the blue/violet combo. Not sure what the reflection on the basement is about.
