@Alicia J

All my motherboards for the last 20+ years are ASUS.

The safest way to update the BIOS is from within the BIOS.
1. Download the new BIOS and use the "renamer" tool to rename the BIOS.
2. Then drop and drag the renamed BIOS file to a USB stick (FAT32).
3. Then do this...

I've never had to "Load Optimized Defaults" before flashing the BIOS.

1. Download the new BIOS and use the "renamer" tool to rename the BIOS.

Using ASUS EZ Flash 3 does not require renaming the BIOS file. Use the BIOS file just as it is.
That's the way I've always done it and it never failed me.

When performing upgrades the BIOS version is checked.

A block can occur resulting in a rollback or failed upgrade.

Sorry, I forgot your first post

ASUS Prime B760M-A AX

If I remember my old Asus , the AIsuite can load a BIOS from within Windows.

Latest version on your support page is ASUS AI Suite 3 V3.03.36

Actual download

Code:
https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1700/PRIME_B760M-A/AISuite3_PPSU_SystemInformation_v3.03.36.zip?model=PRIME%20B760M-A%20AX

Scroll down to Number 8 & 9 to see how to expand the menu and access EasyUpdate from within Windows.

It’s an option if nothing else. I am sure the advice you have already received is solid, I can’t see everyones posts though.
You are right @antspants, I thought the AI suite was discontinued as I haven't seen it into the support page of my TUF GAMING B850 motherboard, it seems it's still available for the Intel platform.

No doubt. But it's unnecessary if you're doing a regular BIOS update. It's required if you're recovering the BIOS.

So did I until I started looking for BIOS info for that board.
They stopped offering a BIOS for my pc about 2015/16 and not long after that, AiSuite stopped being useful also.

If you're flashing the BIOS, you need to choose the USB stick that you put the BIOS ON, and then choose the BIOS file itself.
To find the USB stick... look for a storage device (drive), that is the "size" of the USB stick you used.

For example... if you put the BIOS file on a 16GB stick... it will show as 14.xx GB in the storage section.
A 32GB USB stick will look like 28.xx GB, etc.

Once you find the USB stick, you should see the BIOS file on there.

I always use the renamer tool so my BIOS file looks like this: PROX570.CAP
Before renaming, it looks like this: Pro-WS-X570-ACE-ASUS-5002.CAP

Yours will probably have a... B760 ...in the name.

Here... yours looks like this before renaming... PRIME-B760M-A-AX-ASUS-1812.CAP
...or like this, after renaming: PB760MAX.CAP

Yes.
It should show either of these names...

Here... yours looks like this before renaming... PRIME-B760M-A-AX-ASUS-1812.CAP
...or like this, after renaming: PB760MAX.CAP

The BIOS file you're looking for will end in .CAP

What was the SIZE of the USB stick you used?

952982MB 767MB 29311MB and I’m using a 32GB USB

Then STOP... something is wrong.for a 32GB stick, one of the choices should say: 28.xx GB

Choose this one, and see if the BIOS file is on there... 29311MB

If you wrote 29.311 GB as MB... it would look like that.
So that's probably your 32 GB USB stick.
You know it is... if you see the BIOS file on there. :-)

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 15 years?
Yes.
It should show either of these names...

Here... yours looks like this before renaming... PRIME-B760M-A-AX-ASUS-1812.CAP
...or like this, after renaming: PB760MAX.CAP

The BIOS file you're looking for will end in .CAP

What was the SIZE of the USB stick you used?
I repeat: renaming the file is unnecessary if you're updating the firmware. (It's necessary when doing a BIOS recovery.) But it should do no harm.

I can't guess why "Alicia J" isn't seeing the firmware file. Didn't unZip the download? Didn't copy the .CAP to the root of a flash drive? Using a flash drive that isn't formatted as FAT32?

I’m using a 32GB. It’s the smallest I had.
I don’t know how to go to the cab file.
Perhaps the one that was highlighted was the wrong one ?
