Macrium Support have sent me a new download link which I'm now testing. I'll let you know if it fixes it.

Sounds like something went amiss during applying your 7762 patch. Macrium Support gave you a link to the current v8.1.7762 installer and reinstalling fixed it for you.

My v8 was patched to v8.1.7762. I've just mounted that network image I made earlier without the issues you had. Sounds like it was an error during patching that gave you grief, rather than a bug in 7762 itself.

When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

Yes, that's the logical conclusion to draw. Only problem with it is that two computers, a Win 11 laptop and a Win 10 desktop, both had exactly the same issue with 7762. They were updated independently, though within a few minutes of each other. Both now fine after new download link provided by Macrium Support.

Were you an early patcher? I didn't patch mine until later in the day. Perhaps it was a bug in the patch files that got fixed between you patching and me doing so.

That's an interesting hypothesis, @Bree. I think I'll try the update in a week or so, and see whether my complaints about it are still true. I can always restore it from the previous night's image if need be. Thank you.

Some people are reporting potential Reflect v8.1.7762 rescue media issues on the Macrium forum.
I'm not sure how valid they are as I haven't yet tested WinPE or WinRE myself.

I reported in #612 (two pages back) that I had had trouble with useless rescue USBs made by 7762. @Ghot reported then that his first try with 7762 failed as well. His second worked. My second didn't. Both my MR USB rescue disks are formatted in Fat32. I don't think my Lenovo desktops will boot from a rescue disk formatted in NTFS. I'm back on the previous 7675 on both my machines for now. I would be surprised if you couldnt use older version of macrium to restore. Have they changed the format?

The 1st MR bootable Media failed on .7675, and worked the 2nd time.

Judging by the comments in the following Macrium thread, it appears that there is a problem with both WinRE and WinPE rescue media. The rescue media sizes have also blown out with WinPE growing in size by 150 MB.

I just updated within MR to .7676. I have a SSD with the rescue media on (H drive). I let MR update the rescue media and made a full backup. When I booted up I selected MR in Windows Boot Manager, the PC rebooted and loaded the Macrium rescue media (very slowly) and I couldn't see any backup images that I have stored on my 'G' Drive. I tried booting twice but MR didn't couldn't see any backup images.

Had to use a USB stick with the older rescue media on it, went into BIOS to disable Windows Boot Manager and choose the USB as first boot drive. It booted into the rescue media, I restored the backup I had made before updating, on booting up, I went back into BIOS to make Windows Boot Manager active again (removed USB stick) and it booted into Win11 perfectly.

I booted the system again and went to the MR rescue media, again from Windows Boot Manager, it still didn't show any backup images. But silly me, I forgot to go into MR in Windows and re-build the rescue media. After rebuilding the rescue media, I tested it again and I was back to how it was before the update.

I seem to remember MR had the same problem a few years ago. I think I'll stay on .7675 until I see that it has been fixed. MR were pretty quick last time in fixing the issue (a week or so).

On a Gigabyte motherboard, gently spamming the F12 key at boot, should bring up the "boot menu".
From there you should be able to select the USB stick.

If the stick shows up twice on the list, one saying UEFI and the other with no prefix... chose the UEFI one.

For example, this is my boot menu.
I would need to choose the USB stick, in the RED box, to boot to the MR Rescue Media.
(both Corsair Voyager entries are the same USB stick)

After every restart, it automatically goes back to the Windows Boot Manager.

For... decades, I always went in the BIOS and changed the boot order (then after, had to change it back).
The Boot Menu is a whole lot easier. :-)

I'm a long time user of Reflect, and as great as it is, Macrium (Paramount Software UK Limited) are notorious for releasing updates in quick succession due to unforeseen bugs.

There have been a number of issues reported, not being able to build a working recovery usb, and networking issues. Both of those seem only to have affected those who got the patch immediately it was released. Myself and those who updated later do not seem to have such issues.

Your issue is the only one that I've seen. My v8.1.7762 rescue media does not list the available images, as my v8.1.7675 used to do. However, if you browse for a new image and navigate to where you keep them you can select one, and having done so it then appears in the list of available backups.

So yes, it seems to be a real issue, but not one that would prevent you from doing a restore.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. Feature Update to 23H2 by manually installing the Enablement Package. In-place upgrade to 24H2 using hybrid 23H2/24H2 install media. Also running Insider Beta, Dev, and Canary builds as a native boot .vhdx.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro (and all my Hyper-V VMs).

    My SYSTEM FOUR is a 2-in-1 convertible Lenovo Yoga 11e 20DA, Celeron N2930, 8GB RAM, 256GB ssd. Unsupported device: currently running Win10 Pro, plus Win11 Pro RTM and Insider Dev, Beta, and RP 24H2 as native boot vhdx.

    My SYSTEM FIVE is a Dell Latitude 3190 2-in-1, Pentium Silver N5030, 8GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro, plus the Insider Beta, Dev, Canary, and Release Preview builds as a native boot .vhdx.
