Your first post here and you would be mistaken. For one thing, it is impossible to have an MSR on an MBR disk. When installing on GPT in UEFI mode, Windows creates 4 partitions, not three. EFI System Partition (ESP) [FAT32], Microsoft System Reserved Partition (MSR) [no filesystem], Windows [NTFS], Recovery [NTFS].Both are correct and incorrect at the same time.
When using MBR (or with Legacy? never tried GPT + Legacy), Windows will create 4 partitions: MSR, unlabeled, OS and Recovery.
When using GPT (with UEFI), Windows will create 3 partitions: EFI, OS, and Recovery.
The sizes of the MSR + unlabeled < EFI.
When installing in Legacy mode on an MBR disk, Windows used to create 3 partitions: System Reserved Partition [NTFS, maked active], Windows [NTFS], Recovery [NTFS].
